Job Summary: Credit for Prior Learning Specialist reports to the Credit for Prior Learning Director and under their leadership will process Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) requests through the institutional approval process, assist with CPL data entry, manage CPL communications, both over email and phone, and maintain the decision database.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Responsible for processing student petitions for Credit for Prior Learning. Responsible for routing Credit for Prior Learning petitions to the appropriate programs for approval. Communicating decisions about Credit for Prior Learning petitions to students and Transcript Evaluation Office. Maintain database of Credit for Prior Learning petition decisions. Support the maintenance of the CPL Library of Learning through updates and data entry. Support other areas of Academic Systems (Scheduling, Transfer Articulation, Curriculum) as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued:

Minimum Qualifications: Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience. Associate degree and 2 years of experience. Any combination of education and experience totaling 4 years with trade-offs 1:1 for experience/education.Part-time experience considered on a prorated basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Completed a two-year degree (AA/AS/AAS degree or technical certificate) or higher from an accredited college or university. Higher education work experience strongly preferred. Experience with Ellucian and/or DegreeWorks or other student information system/degree audit system Experience with Etrieve or other approval software. Knowledge of CPL/PLA.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills Expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and SharePoint. Demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot data conflicts. Strong attention to details Computer and data entry skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability and willingness to become a skilled user of technological tools and reporting systems. Ability to interact successfully with associate deans, faculty, and staff throughout the institution. Familiarity with college resources and services such as catalog, curriculum, concurrent enrollment, registration, and scheduling. Ability to interpret university/college/department policies and program information. Demonstrates initiative, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills. Interpersonal skills including, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Able to perform with minimal supervision and prioritize assignments. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
