Location: University of Oregon, College of Educaton, in Eugene, OR
Department: Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership
Rank: Lecturer
Annual Basis: 9 Month

Position Summary
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership position is located at the University of Oregon, College of Education, in Eugene, Oregon. The College of Education is seeking to hire a nationally prominent educator to collaborate with members of the EMPL department, and across the faculty of the college and university, to teach courses in educational leadership and advise and mentor licensure, masters, and doctoral students in our applied doctoral (D.Ed.) and administrative licensure programs. Opportunities are also available for existing academic program redesign, development of new academic programs for educational leaders, and academic program coordination. Through teaching, advising, mentoring, and intellectual contributions to academic program design, this position has the potential to guide and shape the next generation of educational leaders in Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and the Nation.

Substantive expertise in areas critical to Oregon and the nation's school systems is welcome, including linguistic and racial diversity and equity, behavioral supports and social-emotional learning, urban and rural education, career and technical education, high-school and college transitions, addressing learning loss, remote instruction, alternative models of schooling post-pandemic, or other expertise relevant to leadership in educational systems. So, too, is the ability to teach an array of applied leadership courses on topics such as improvement science, evidence-based decision making, teaching and learning, formative assessment, and education finance, among others.

This position is a Career Non-Tenure-Track Faculty (CNTTF) position in the Lecturer classification series. The position's responsibilities are guided by the COE NTTF Professional Responsibilities Policy, United Academics Collective Bargaining Agreement, and the COE's NTTF Policy for Promotion and Review.

Starting Date: a range of starting dates is possible from June 2021 to September 2021.

Department Summary
The College of Education (COE) is organized in four academic departments and 16 research and outreach centers. All departments include both tenure and career non-tenure track faculty, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs addressing the full range of issues present in educational and social systems. A range of academic degrees and majors are offered, including educational leadership, communication disorders and sciences, elementary and secondary education, school psychology, counseling psychology, couples and family therapy, special education, teacher education studies, administrator preparation, and quantitative research methods. As noted in our mission statement, COE faculty, staff, and students are committed to developing and validating programs that prepare scholars and practitioners, while promoting respect for diversity, equitable opportunities, and inclusive environments. Further information about the leadership programs, college, and university is accessible at https://education.uoregon.edu/.

The Department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership (EMPL) brings together scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds with shared expertise in using data-informed evidence to guide professional practice and policymaking to improve how education and social systems serve students, families, and communities. EMPL's doctorate of education (D.Ed.) and administrative licensure programs have a long history of regional prominence; many current school, district, and state leaders in Oregon are alumni.

Given the unique ways in which individuals from historically marginalized racial and ethnic groups, sexual- and gender-minorities, students with disabilities, and students with immigrant, language learner, and/or low-income status have been poorly served in schools, as well as recent compelling evidence on student-teacher matching, we strongly encourage members of such groups to apply for this position. We also recognize that evidence suggests that women and members of historically marginalized racial and ethnic groups self-select out of positions due to concerns over failure to meet minimal requirements; we strongly encourage such applicants to apply even if they are uncertain about their qualifications.
