Job Description:
The Department of Teaching & Learning: K-12 and Secondary Programs at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in teacher education. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and post-baccalaureate / graduate courses through a lens of racial equity, linguistic diversity, anti-racism, and social justice in K-12 and secondary teacher preparation. The successful candidate's teaching will contribute to teacher preparation in 18 academic content areas through KSP Department partnerships with colleges and departments across campus (see complete list of undergraduate degrees). Through the teacher-preparation programs, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with rural, suburban, and urban partner school districts across Minnesota. The successful candidate will contribute to a department that values providing future teachers with opportunities for advancing social justice and anti-racism in education through real world connections and practical, hands-on learning

A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.

The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.

May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's additional locations, as assigned.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.

All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).

This position will supervise/advise undergraduate majors.

This position will supervise/advise graduate students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in teacher preparation, assessment, curriculum, and instruction.

Required Qualifications:

Doctorate or terminal degree in Curriculum and Instruction, or closely related field. (conferred on an official transcript and received in Human Resources by August 14, 2023)

Three (3) or more years of teaching experience as teacher of record.

Documented ability to integrate and use technology including on-line delivery of courses.

Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.

Preferred Qualifications:

Evidence of specialized training in assessment, curriculum and instructional design, diversity, and/or differentiated curriculum.

Demonstrated ability to initiate and sustain an active research agenda.

Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.

Demonstrated excellence in teaching college or university-level classes.

Experience supervising students in field placements.

Demonstrated willingness to work individually and collaboratively as a member of a team.

Evidence of experience forging constructive and complementary relationships between P-12 education, university level faculty/administration, community individuals, and groups.

Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:The K-12 and Secondary Programs (KSP) department serves both undergraduate and graduate students in two areas: initial teacher licensure for 5-12 and K-12 classrooms, and advanced programs. For those seeking continued development through advanced programs, the department offers course work in Teaching and Learning, Education Technology, and School Library and Information Studies. Program emphasis is placed upon facilitating graduate students in strengthening and broadening their knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to function effectively as educators.
