The Dean of CEAHS will assume primary responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of all academic programs, personnel, and other areas designated by the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Dean fosters, supports, and enhances a student-centered academic environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the EKU mission, especially an awareness and understanding of the needs of underrepresented and first-generation students. The successful candidate will take an innovative, creative, and flexible approach to serving the needs of the community, with particular attention to creating and sustaining partnerships with external entities, including school districts and other employers.

The Dean will foster academic excellence through faculty development, pedagogical innovation, scholarly research, and creative endeavors. The Dean will lead initiatives to strengthen and sustain existing programs by using and advocating for equity-minded curricular approaches to ensure that CEAHS graduates meet or exceed national pass rates on licensure certifications and standardized exams and receive support in meeting their academic goals. The Dean will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering a sense of belonging for all students, including intentional supports for historically marginalized groups. Additionally, the Dean will promote educational access and opportunity for underrepresented groups. It is anticipated that the selected candidate will assume these responsibilities no later than July 1, 2023.

The Dean should demonstrate success in donor support and have a strong commitment to developing an inclusive community including supporting opportunities for continued collaborations between the College and EKU's Model Laboratory school, Kentucky's only laboratory school. In addition, the Dean must demonstrate a commitment to building relationships as part of CEAHS' partnerships with departments and colleges, as well as a history of contributions to the field. An important aspect of the Dean role is to build, maintain, and effectively leverage relationships with school districts, co-ops, state agencies, and policy leaders. The successful candidate will have experience in working in or with these sectors.

Qualifications include: A terminal degree in an Education or Applied Human Science discipline housed within the CEAHS or a terminal degree in a closely related area and significant professional experience in a field housed within the CEAHS; significant leadership experience, a record of developing and cultivating external partnerships, and familiarity with the accreditation, public funding, and tenure policies affecting the disciplines housed within the College.
