Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Child Care Director and Teacher, helps guide and facilitate activities of young children to help them develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally.

Job Duties:

Assist in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy developmentally appropriate environment;
Assist teacher during lessons
Guide childrens acquisition of social skills;
Provide relief supervision for children as assigned.
Attend staff training and meetings
Assist the teacher in the completion of required reports;
Light custodial duties
Complete timely and accurate time sheets;
Assist, as requested, in transition activities;
Perform other duties, as may be required.



Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
Child Development Associate Credential or 6 credit hours in child development, education or related field. One year experience in licensed child care setting, Headstart or public preschool

Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Associates Degree or higher in child development, education or related field Two years experience in licensed child care setting, Headstart or public preschool

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Basic principles of child development
Developmentally appropriate practice
Techniques for guiding and nurturing childrens behavior
Willing to work with various ages: infants, toddlers, preschool



Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced principles of child development Developmentally appropriate practice Methods and techniques: curriculum, lesson plans, classroom environments, and assessment Methods and techniques for guiding and nurturing childrens behavior
