The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Blended and Personalized Learning to begin in 2026 (Spring, Summer or Fall, negotiable)


Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

Responsibilities of the successful candidate include but are not limited to:
  • Developing and teaching graduate-level courses in personalized and blended learning, and fostering graduate students' conceptual understanding and measurable skills - specifically in online and blended formats using the TTU Canvas Learning Management System
  • Advising graduate certificate and master's degree seeking students as well as PhD students; including chairing and serving as a member of doctoral and master's committees
  • Maintaining and building relationships and partnerships with school districts, state agencies and non-profits
  • Developing and nurturing new partnerships in community-engaged scholarship (research, teaching, and/or service), and partnering with schools and/or professional organizations and agencies to ensure meaningful, collaborative research, teaching, and practice
  • Maintaining a line of research and publications that meaningfully contributes to the improvement of policy, program, and practice in fields of personalized learning, blended learning, teacher education, and community-engaged scholarship
  • Applying for, obtaining, and managing external grant funding to support research and community-engaged scholarship
  • Engaging in service duties, including program management, as well as committing to extra-curricular activities and service to community partners
  • Being a team player to contribute to the advancement of department, college, and university goals through various kinds of professional service


Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (or expected to earn by May 2026) in Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field
  • Research and experience aligned with Blended and/or Personalized Learning


Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • K-12 teaching and/or coaching experience in BL/PL contexts;
  • Experience with leading academic programs;
  • Experience with building and maintaining partnerships;
  • Experience with and research/support on AI-driven personalized learning systems;
  • Experience with and research/support on AI-uses in teaching and learning for personalization and innovative solutions for strategic staffing
  • Experience in community-engaged scholarship (including rigorous research, teaching, grant writing, and/or service with community partners), especially connected with school partners;
  • A track-record of online college-level teaching with a preference for graduate-level teaching;
  • A track-record of or potential ability for advising/chairing doctoral level graduate students;
  • Evidence of peer-refereed publications;
  • Evidence of conference presentations; and
  • Evidence of obtaining (or potential for) external funding.
