Description
Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire a
Learning Center Coordinator
position. This is a full-time, classified, non-exempt, and benefits-eligible position. PURPOSE OF POSITION
:
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the College Learning Center tutorial services including physical spaces (Oregon City and Harmony campus) and online. Coordinate staffing to ensure provision of quality support services to faculty and students. Coordinate technology assets to ensure their reliable availability and security. Provide support services to students, faculty, and staff. Establish and enforce operation procedures for tutorial services, the Academic Computing lab, Writing Center, Math Lab, Streeter Lab, and the Harmony Campus Tutoring lab and ensure compliance with College policies and practices. As part of the Learning Center Team, collaborates on unit planning, budgeting, programming and assessment. Serve as a Learning Center representative for college-wide strategic initiatives and projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversee and Coordinate Tutoring Services (40%)
- Communicate with and provide information to students interested in receiving tutorial services, including identifying specific student needs, determining appropriate tutor(s), and scheduling and coordinating appointments with tutor(s).
- Collaborate with other departments to build or improve tutoring offerings.
- Address and resolve complaints raised by users and deal with "disruptive" user situations.
- Ensure appropriate levels and quality of support services to students, faculty, and staff using the Academic Computer Lab, Math Lab, Writing Center, CougarConnect, Streeter Lab, and the Harmony Campus Tutoring Lab equipment and services. Also supports online tutoring resources.
- Monitor and track tutorial services and Academic Computer Lab usage by students.
- Provide quarterly tutoring and Academic Computer Lab utilization reports to all departments having tutoring functions in the Learning Center.
- Monitor, update, and adjust students' printing accounts using the College's student printing allocation system.
- Provide staffing and resources to answer student questions about Moodle, My.Clackamas.edu access, and questions related to student resources found on the CougarConnect webpage.
2. Coordinate Learning Center Tutor Staffing (40%)
- Coordinate-supervise Technology Tutor, Math, and Writing student tutor employees.
- Create tutoring schedules based on student tutors' availability and track student hours for reporting and schedule adjustments.
- Assist the Learning Center co-coordinators and department chairs that have tutoring functions in the Learning Center with recruiting and selection of tutors for math and writing.
- Recruit, hire, mentor, and verify time entry of Technology Tutors
- Plan and deliver tutor orientation, training, and ongoing skill development for tutors as needed and in collaboration with departments that have functions in the Learning Center.
- Provide training and evaluation for technology specific skills necessary for first line technology questions.
- Create and maintain Technology Tutor FAQ manual and update student tutor handbook, update Learning Center Coordinator Handbook.
3. Promote Tutoring Services (10%)
- Encourage and promote tutoring to students.
- Communicate and inform faculty, programs, and other partners regarding tutorial program operations and activities.
- Inform Deans and departments of updates and receive feedback.
- Create and distribute marketing materials publicizing the tutoring program.
- Work with community members and prospective students to connect them with appropriate tutoring- related support.
- Maintain web pages for Cougar Connect Tech Help Desk, Tutoring Website, and other Public Facing Student Support Sites.
- Foster a safe, welcoming, clean and supportive Learning Center environment that promotes belonging.
4. Coordinate Technology Assets (10%)
- Collaborate with ITS to establish procedures for Academic Computer Lab operation and ensure compliance with college policies related to the use of information technology and to ensure Academic Computer Lab cleanliness, security, and safety.
- Cooperate with the College, ITS, and any affected academic departments to resolve hardware or application-related problems encountered in relation to tutoring and student computer use in the Learning Center. Coordinate maintenance and hardware and software configuration changes and upgrades for the Academic Computing Lab.
- Monitor and manage Academic Computing Lab software licenses as necessary.
- Conduct and maintain regular inventories of equipment, materials, office forms, and report results.
- Submit building work orders and maintenance requests.
GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other departments, and the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
- Participate in college committees when requested.
- Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
- Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Maintain student confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related college, state, and federal
- standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Business Administration or related discipline
AND
3-years of experience in education, instructional support, tutorial services, and/or management of instructional support in an educational environment
OR
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with students from a diverse background (such as first-generation, low-income, English Language Learners, and students with disabilities)
- Experience navigating technology issues with personal computing devices, including Windows/MAC/Chromebook OS, tablets, smartphones, and applications such as Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with general business operations, processes, and procedures in a college setting.
- Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
- Bilingual Spanish/English
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES
:
Driver's license valid in the State of Oregon for transportation between campuses.

Terms of Employment
- This position will be eligible to work remotely up to (2) days per week in accordance with the CCC policy.
- All positions at CCC are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college and requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
