Administrator, Learning Specialist
Performs managerial work providing direction and guidance in setting and achieving goals and objectives; developing policies; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities; and establishing and monitoring budget. May plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Frequent communication with the Director of LAP and Athletic Academic Advisors to discuss student-athletes'
progress and development.
Demonstrate and contribute to a culture of high academic Integrity through consistent practice.
Work one-on-one with a caseload of student-athletes to enhance and encourage effective learning strategies,
interventions, and academic skills through weekly meetings.
Conduct and/or assist with intake assessments and evaluations such as the Cumulative Student History, Study
Skills Assessment, and Optimal Performance Evaluation.
Utilize student-athlete's academic history, assessment results, and educational interviews to collaboratively
develop, implement, and monitor individualized academic support plans (formal or informal).
Serve as the liaison between Student Disability Services and student-athletes in relation to the TTU
Work closely with the Clinical Sports Psychology Department to coordinate and assist with psychoeducational
assessments and case management as needed.
Develop and implement innovative programming for academic support programs to enhance educational
opportunities for student-athletes (i.e., academic workshops, Wreck'Em Prep sessions, informational videos, or
Comprehensive understanding of Specific Learning Disabilities and the various strategies and interventions that
will support academic growth and development.
Provide appropriate communication, as needed with Athletic Academic Advisors regarding students on

Maintain accurate records, files, and session reports.
Help develop and implement policies and protocols for the Learning Assistance Program.
Work in collaboration with Athletic Academic Advisors to determine appropriate course selection and academic

Attend all Athletic Department, MSC, and LAP meetings as assigned.
Assist with the recruiting & guest coach activities when requested.
Bachelor's degree in area of expertise or closely related area required. Three years of experience in planning, developing, or implementing programs/projects or research grants. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Master's degree in counseling, sport management, higher education or related area; Previous background as a Learning Specialist; Knowledge of regulations and laws associated with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and
accommodations for learning disabled; Knowledge of and ability to Interpret assessments such as Woodcock-Johnson, IQ, and Aptitude measures, as well as understanding of Individual Education Plans/Summary of Performance documents;
